Macau is China’s oldest European settlement. It was established by the
Portuguese between 1554 and 1557 and was governed by them until the handover back
to China in 1999. Macau is located in the Pearl River Delta and is just over an
hour from Hong Kong.
With a strong mix of Portuguese and Chinese cultures; Macau is one of the most dynamic
areas of China. Wander along cobbled streets and admire Portuguese inspired mansions
and Chinese temples.
To admire the full views of the city, visit Macau Tower. From the observation deck
take in a birds eye view or if you are feeling adventurous take the ‘Skywalk’
– a thrilling walk around the main outer rim of the tower. You may also wish
to try your luck at the famous Lisboa Casino before taking in some Macanese cuisine.
Meals are a delicate blend of eastern and western flavours not to be missed.
